As a result, the Mining Guild TIE loses some of the trademark speed that the ship is known for. These Notched Stabilizers, built into every Mining Guild TIE, give these ships the useful ability to ignore asteroids while moving, letting them freely perform risky maneuvers without the threat of damage from these obstacles!īut this increased visibility comes at the cost of a reduced power output.

Most noticeably, Mining Guild TIEs have two panels removed from their stabilizers, granting a much-needed boost to their pilots’ peripheral vision when weaving through the treacherous asteroid fields where they normally operate.

These concerns carry over into the design of the guild’s version of the TIE. Rather than launching offensive operations against Rebel targets and overwhelming them with wave after wave of ships, the Mining Guild cares more about protecting its own interests. In the hands of a corporate entity like the Mining Guild, however, the TIE takes on a wholly different role. From fighters that directly engage other starships to bombers that drop a variety of deadly devices throughout the engagement zone, the mass-produced TIE variants are designed to help the Empire dominate space in every aspect of battle. The crew managed to evade Drednok, capture Gwyn (tying her to the captain’s chair in the process) and escape the mining planet through a drainage pipe.In the service of the Empire, the countless TIE variations have a single purpose: combat. Both Gwyn and Drednok were surprised to see that Dal had found the Protostar, which Gwyn’s father had been searching for, for years in the mines. Gwyn again captured Dal and sent him to work the outer rim, only to then stage an escape and follow him back to Fugitive Zero. New recruits boarded the ship, including Jankom Pog, a teen Tellarite who would serve as their engineer, and Murf, an aggressively cute blob who squeaks. Now that they’ve uncovered the Protostar, they had a way to get off the planet for good. They eventually found Fugitive Zero, who revealed it was used as a weapon and forced to do horrible things before finally getting away. After a mishap involving a laser gun and a bunch of falling rocks, the pair stumbled onto an abandoned Federation ship - the USS Protostar. Though it was clear Dal knew nothing of Fugitive Zero, Gwyn gave him until the end of the following day to locate the missing telepathic lifeform.ĭuring his search, Dal befriended a bulky, crater-like and deceptively young teen named Rok-Tahk. In a one-on-one conversation with Gwyn, Dal attempted to trade information about Fugitive Zero for a spot on a Kazon ship that would get him off the planet. Dal was special because he still had hope - something they lost a long time ago. While held in captivity, Dal continued his efforts to escape, which impressed the ambiguous figure in the next cell.
